Momentum advises kopa Ventures, IBB Ventures and neosfer (Commerzbank Group) on the sale of their stake in Daato Technologies to EQS Group AG
Frankfurt am Main, January 21, 2025: The transaction boutique Momentum has advised the venture capital investors kopa Ventures, IBB Ventures and neosfer (Commerzbank Group) on the sale of their stake in Daato Technologies, a pioneer in the field of sustainability software, to EQS Group AG, a leading provider of compliance solutions and portfolio company of US investor Thoma Bravo. The advice included, in particular, comprehensive advice on the sales process as well as the negotiation of the purchase agreement and other exit documents.
Contact with the investor group was established via Frankfurt-based venture capital and private equity partner Philipp Weber. The Momentum team had already advised neosfer (Commerzbank Group) on the venture capital investment in Daato Technologies. Momentum regularly advises venture capital investors and start-ups on financing rounds, convertible loans, Simple Agreements on Future Equity (SAFE), venture debt and ESOP/VSOP.
Comments on the Exit
Benjamin Wochner of kopa Ventures, lead investor in Daato, commented: “Daato has proven in a very short time that its innovative technology provides real value to companies required to report on sustainability. We are proud to have supported the company’s growth and see the acquisition by EQS Group as the ideal next step for Daato.”
“Daato’s all-in-one solution is a true gamechanger for ESG compliance. This acquisition highlights the enormous potential of startups developing innovative solutions for regulatory challenges,” added Marlon Müller of neosfer.
Cindy Beckel and Clemens Kabel from IBB Ventures stated: “The strong team at Daato once again demonstrates that Berlin startups have global relevance. We would like to thank Kamal and Thilo and wish them all the best for their journey with EQS Group.”
The acquisition of Daato Technologies impressively showcases the potential of sustainability startups. “This success should inspire other founders to launch their own impact startups and drive sustainable innovations. It shows that courage and creative solutions in the field of sustainability pay off,” emphasized Wochner.
Philipp Weber, Venture Capital & Private Equity Partner at Momentum adds: „We are delighted to have supported kopa Ventures, IBB Ventures and neosfer in this exciting transaction, as ESG business models are becoming increasingly important for venture capital investments and acquisitions by strategists and private equity investors.”
